Melodyne audio to midi converter how to#
Huge time saver as it would take all day to figure out how to play the bass line on a keyboard for me.
I don't even have to worry about what the bass sounds like! I turn it into a midi track and takes a bout 10 minutes to edit and get sounding exactly the way I wanted it. I can play a bass part in one or so passes and don't have to worry about precise timing or pitch. Maybe it only likes Bass notes.Ĭactus Music I sure hope it continues to work because it's become a Must Have feature for me for making backing tracks. You know the little hook in Mother little Helper played on a ? Sitar? Any how I had to do it t he hard way and used my keyboard. I played a little melody on a guitar and dragged it and it made a huge mess even though it was a few notes. So far I've only got it to work with Bass Tracks.
And I've never changed that setting obviously as I couldn't even if I wanted to. But I do use this feature a lot and yes, you never have to create a regional effect first, just drag and drop. This is great because I really never use the pitch correction any how. So It's weird how the audio to midi works without issue, It even creates a Melodyn folder.

When I closed Sonar later there was a splash screen that had been hidden behind Sonars window telling me I needed to enter a serial number. I copied and pasted the same phrase from a different part of the song and moved on. I had a little pitch issue with a vocal track and I did the regional effect to the little clip and Melodyn was not grayed out, and it opened the editor but I couldn't do anything? Oh well. I have not done anything to authorize Melodyn. The other thing to keep in mind is that one has to play very, very cleanly to avoid getting glitch notes, though if one can apply a software filter that throws away MIDI note events that have a "velocity" parameter below some resonable threshold, that will get rid of most of them.An interesting thing about this feature, I have installed Splat on a bunch of different computers. This tends to result in noticeable lag on low notes if you're using the MIDI to drive a synth.

That means, at an absolute minimum, it has to wait until it's seen two full cycles of the waveform, and for practical purposes it needs to look back over quite a few cycles before it can be sure. To figure out what MIDI note to send, the converter has to be able to figure out what the fundamental frequency is on each string that's vibrating. What the GK pickups do is provide a separate signal for each string, which makes the signal processing a lot easier. The old Axion AX-50 and AX-100 units had a clever algorithm that really helps tracking for a bass. Roland also makes converters (GR-55, GI-20) that convert te GK pickup signals into MIDI/USB that are much easier to find. The best current option I know (and it's the one that I have) is to use a dedicated Roland GK-3B pickup and an Terratec Axion converter. Unfortunately, Fishman still hasn't produced a bass version of their "Triple Play" MIDI USB interface for guitars.
